Content And Community For Black Moms

Everyone has a story about how they got to where they are in their career, and we want to hear yours!

When mater mea launched in 2012, I was really interested in learning how amazing women like photographer Hannan Saleh or journalist and CNN executive Geraldine Moriba got to where they are in their careers. I wanted to know how they were able to juggle the demands of their jobs with the even more pressing demands of having a family. And what’s more, I wanted to know how they found their way to their life’s work in the first place—something I was trying to figure out for myself at the time.

While we’re still creating those in-depth features we all love, we want to share even more women’s career stories. If you’ve ever read a mater mea interview and thought “I have a story to tell,” here’s your chance! Fill out this form courtesy of Public Insight Network to be considered in a future How I Did It profile!

We want to know the a-ha moment that brought you to your job, the service gap you knew only you could fill. We want to meet women killing it in a unique field, or making a big difference in their community. So tell us your story. We can’t wait to learn how you did it!
